Viking Ax; Rough Cast

Viking Ax; Rough Cast

Sorry, this item has sold.

When the cold winds blow and the trees shed their last coat of leaves, this Viking Ax appears to carry the villagers of the North through the winter months. This rough cast workhorse was the pride of every household, used for chopping wood as often as chopping necks. It has been known to make the ladies swoon for the unwashed beards of it's owners, so be careful who you reveal it to!

Short on stature at 16" long with a 6" rough cast blade, this gift ax is designed with beauty in mind, but is built to break stuff. The leather wrapped rosewood handle is ready for your pillaging needs! Includes the leather sheath.

Disclaimer: This is a real ax with a sharp blade. Watch your fingers when you're chopping the mutton for the Viking brunch. You assume all responsibility for safe use upon receipt.

*There will be variations in the wood grain and head casting. Each is hand crafted, so there may be slight imperfections.

1095 high carbon and Damascus Steel are great at holding an edge, but will rust and stain if not taken care of properly. Please clean and dry your blade after use, and apply a light coat of oil (gun oil, coconut oil, canola...almost any clear oil) in order to protect the blade and add longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Care instructions

1085 high carbon and damascus steel will hold an edge very well, but they are not stainless steel. It may take on color with lots of use, and should be dried and oiled, if possible, to prevent rust. If you do get some rust, I prefer giving it a quick rub with a very fine (000) steel wool and it usually easily takes care of it without scratching the metal.

I wouldn't go chipping away at rocks, but they're pretty tough and should last you a long time!

Corporate Gifts or Awards

These are usually orders of 15+. We can do almost any amount given enough time.

You can engrave names or logos on the handles. You can replace my AIM logo with your own etched into the blade, or we can make a custom metal stamp of your logo for the leather sheaths.

Just remember, these are custom made and hand crafted, so we need months, not weeks. The more customized, the more time we need! They look ridiculously awesome, so bring it on!

Custom and personalized orders

Yes. Oh, you want to know more? Just send me a note to discuss your ideas!

-ENGRAVING goes on the wood handles. It's a laser engraver, so burning the image in. It can do fairly detailed images, even your drawn pictures and handwriting. Be creative! Engraving has a quick turn around.

-ETCHING goes on the metal. It looks great on the polished metal, but can be hard to see on the damascus. This needs to be less detailed. Think words, numbers, basic designs. WE ONLY DO THIS FOR LARGE ORDERS (10+). This takes time.

We will do full custom jobs for larger orders, including blade designs, handle materials, custom deep etched logos (instead of the AIM), custom leather stamps on the sheath, etc. Your gifts can be awesome!

Wholesale availability

This is my new favorite thing. It’s so well made, and just has a nice feel to it. Very happy with my purchase.

Very nice axe, I really like it. Will buy more!!!

Excellent craftsmanship and fast shipping, this was a gift for my brother’s birthday and he absolutely loved it. Travis was quick in responses and he is very talented in his craft. Thank you, again!

These axes are rock solid, pieces of artwork. I own and operate an axe throwing arena. I use these as trophies for the leagues we run. The throwers absolutely LOVE competing to win one of these. The last winner threw his into the target and stuck it with ease. They are sharp but very thick and trust me, will split anything!!

Great craftsmanship! Also arrived quicker than expected.
